Happy Galentine’s/Valentine’s Weekend!

With all this love in the air, I felt inspired to share some of my favourite romance content I’ve been watching, reading, and listening to lately. I’ve always been a sucker for a good love story: I grew up on 2000s rom-coms, devoured every bit of chick lit I could get my hands on, and remain, unapologetically, a romantic at heart.

While I enjoyed a quiet Valentine’s evening at home this year, I can’t help but dream about gathering all my friends around one table in the same city one day and hosting a Galentine’s Day supper club à la Dinner at Isabelle with an elaborate menu and a fun tablescape. Alas, that will be for another year!

So whether you’re hosting your own dinner with friends, having a date night, or romanticizing your own company this weekend, I hope you’ll enjoy this post!

What I Wore This Week

The perfect winter accessory

The weather lately has been too cold for fashion, so I don’t have any outfit to share.

What I have been wearing on repeat, though, are the triangle cashmere scarves from Aritzia. Genuinely the best winter accessory I’ve ever owned.

They’re soft and warm, but what makes them so good is their versatility. You can wrap one tightly around your neck on freezing days, drape it effortlessly over a coat for a layered look, or pull it up as a hood when it starts to snow. They’re now essential to my winter wardrobe because they’re a lot more useful than regular rectangle scarves.

I know Aritzia’s winter pieces will disappear soon, but if there’s one thing to buy for next year, it’s this. Future you will be grateful!

And if you do want some outfit inspiration, the cover picture is something I wore for Galentine’s Day in London last year, when I went out for dinner with my friend Martine!

Everyday Delights

All I can think about this week is Wuthering Heights. The novel, but also the recent “adaptation” (quotation marks very much intentional) that I’m going to see next Tuesday.

I’ve read the reviews, watched far too many TikToks, and fallen deep into a spiral over Margot Robbie’s impeccable method styling and Emerald Fennell’s moody visuals. I don’t think I’ve ever properly read the novel cover to cover, though I remember dissecting it in an English Lit class at school. I’m excited to finally read it in full, ideally right after I’ve seen the film, while everything still feels fresh in my mind. If you’re planning to see it, please tell me your thoughts. I’m already looking forward to a post-viewing debrief.

Staying on the theme of love stories, the other highlight of my week has been my Friday night watching the first episode of the American Love Story limited series on Caroline Bessette and John F. Kennedy Jr. The fashion alone is worth watching; it’s impossibly chic, transporting you straight back to the glossy minimalism of the ’90s. Plus, their chemistry is through the roof! Caroline Bessette has long been one of my ultimate style icons, and reading this book and this book last year only deepened my fascination. I’m excited to watch the next episodes.

This Week’s Edit

Everything I Know About Love, Dolly Alderton

Quite simply, my favourite memoir of all time. If you’re one of my friends, there’s a high chance I’ve pressed this into your hands, gifted you a copy, or at the very least spoken about it at length. I re-read it every year as a ritual.

Dolly Alderton feels like a defining voice of my generation, and this book chronicles her coming-of-age in London: friendships, heartbreak, chaos, and the lessons that shape her understanding of love, but even more so about the female friendships that carried her through it all!

Almost Wise Podcast

One of the recent podcasts I’ve discovered. Hosted by three friends living in Amsterdam, it genuinely feels like sitting in on a conversation I could be having with my own friends. I especially loved their episode on love and dating.

St-Agni Belted Side Detail Top

Like everyone else, I’ve been flooded with content from Australia this week thanks to Rhode’s launch there, and while that’s slightly beside the point, it did remind me just how effortlessly stylish Australian women are.

I kept noticing the cool tops they were wearing, often with open backs and unexpected details. A lot of them were from St. Agni, which naturally sent me down a rabbit hole. I have two pairs of sandals from the brand, but I never delved into their clothing. This belted side-detail top is now high on my wishlist. It’s understated and a little bit sexy, but in an elegant way.

Strangers, Belle Burden
My most recent five-star read. In this memoir, Belle Burden recounts the breakdown of her marriage during the pandemic, when her husband left her and their children without warning, upending their lives overnight.

I was blown away. One of the best memoirs I’ve read. What happened to her marriage is truly shocking, and she writes about it with remarkable honesty. The story is gripping from start to finish.

Love, S.
