Note 51 - A Wedding in Canada
Happy Sunday! Today, I’m taking you back to Canada.
I was there for just 72 hours last weekend for my brother’s wedding. I originally planned to put together a little wellness guide to the city, but I didn’t have enough time to do everything on my list.
Instead, I made the most of being home: spending time with my family, revisiting some of my favourite Pilates studios, and soaking up the weekend. It felt a little surreal, almost like I was dreaming or living in an alternate reality, especially because I only left in June and this trip was so short. But we had the most gorgeous day for the wedding, and I was very happy with my outfit, so come along!
What I Wore This Week
For the wedding, I was torn between two dresses (the other one was featured in my eventwear note) and, at the last minute, decided to go with this Rotate Birger Christensen one. I first tried it on in pink while I was in Hamburg, and it stayed in the back of my mind until I spotted it on sale this summer. It ended up being perfect for the occasion: I loved the soft pastel colour, the textural details and the sheer skirt. I kept the accessories in cream, pairing it with my Aeyde sandals and a satin bag from Totême, then threw my blazer over the top, very Scandi-girl, to keep warm once the sun went down.
I’m already excited to rewear the dress for other events. I felt comfortable all day! If you’re looking for eventwear, the brand has so many beautiful options, and you can often find pieces from previous seasons secondhand or on sale.

The moments that stayed with me most from my time in Montreal were the quiet hours in between events. Having my first cup of tea of the day in my childhood home, catching up with my mom, and taking an early morning walk through Westmount with my friend Sabine, admiring the beautiful houses tucked among the leafy streets. The air was crisp, and it smelled like fall.
I can’t lie that it was also definitely exhausting to change time zones for such a short amount of time and then get back to Paris on a red-eye, but it all went so smoothly, and I’ve been taking time to relax since.
This Week’s Edit
I never wear foundation, but I wanted to try the new Westman Atelier one for the wedding because I had heard all the hype and, honestly, I was so impressed! I had my shade matched at La Samaritaine, and the makeup specialist at the counter recommended putting the product on the back of my hand first, then applying it with a small brush for a flawless, barely-there finish. It’s also a trick I’d seen makeup artists use online, and it worked perfectly for the night.
The rest of my makeup was mostly Westman Atelier too; the products are all so good.
The bag I wore to the wedding; I loved the silhouette and the beautiful fabric, and I got so many compliments on it!

The book I’ve been reading this week for my book club! It’s actually not so in theme with today’s post, as it follows a woman during the year she and her husband decide to take a trial separation, exploring how they miss each other while also rediscovering themselves. It’s made me want to read more of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s older books.
