Note 07 - Homebody

Skall Studio sweater, Filippa K jeans, Vagabond boots, Mads Norgaard bag

Happy Sunday!

Whenever I come back from vacation, I always crave a bit of cozy time at home. I’ve always been a homebody at heart, and there’s something so comforting about returning to familiar routines after being away. Since coming back from Portugal, I’ve been easing back into everyday life and fully embracing the change of seasons. The leaves are nearly gone, the rainy days have arrived, and I’ve been leaning into my homebody era more than ever. It feels like the perfect time to slow down, light a candle, catch up on reading, and enjoy small comforts before what’s bound to be a hectic November.

I hope you enjoy this post, filled with cozy recommendations, from a Dark Academia read and a delicious dessert recipe to some of my favourite fashion discoveries of the moment.

What I wore this week

The sweater of all sweaters

Last Sunday, I met up with my friend @librarians.wardrobe in Westmount for coffee and an autumnal walk through the neighbourhood. It was quite chilly, so I reached for my Skall Studio turtleneck knit (a secondhand find from Vestiaire Collective).

Turtlenecks are my absolute favourite once the weather cools down. I paired it with baggy white jeans, black boots, and added a bit of texture and pattern with my Mads Nørgaard gingham tote (see the intro photo from this post). Overall, a cozy and comfortable outfit for strolling through the pumpkin-decorated streets.

My stylish friend

Phoebe Philo inspired nails

Fall is here

For the things that brought me joy this week, I must start by mentioning my friend’s outfit. We both have the same AF Agger coat and Aesther Ekme bag, just in different colours, and I love how she’s styled hers, perfect for an autumn walk.

Lately, I’ve been having a bit of fun with my nails and was inspired by a recent Phoebe Philo campaign where each nail is painted a different shade (a Skittles manicure). I went for neutral tones, naturally.

With Canadian Thanksgiving last weekend, the extra day off was the perfect chance to rest and finally adjust to the right time zone. On my walk, seeing the leaves scattered across the ground made me realize how quickly fall is slipping away. It’s a gentle reminder to slow down and savour what’s left of the season.

Swedish Kladkakka

We were invited to our neighbours’ for dinner this week, and were in charge of dessert. I originally made a berry sorbet (so easy, if you want the recipe, I used this one and swapped the fruits), but it felt like it needed something to accompany it on the side. I had come across a Swedish Kladdkaka recipe on Instagram from @darlingitspasta a few days before and decided to give it a try. It turned out super easy, incredibly chocolatey, and absolutely delicious. Definitely my new go-to when I need to whip up a quick dessert.

This Week’s Edit

Vogue Scandinavia Living
Vogue Scandinavia recently launched their Living edition, dedicated to design and architecture from local talents. I loved their first feature with legendary architect Bjarke Ingels. His summer house is truly a dream, beautifully blending classic Scandinavian folklore with modern design.

Zara Cape Coat
I saw someone wearing this coat, and she looked so effortless and chic that I was sure it had to be Totême or The Row. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it’s from Zara. I love a winter white moment and a cape even more.

Sirens & Muses, Antonia Angress
If you’re looking for a Dark Academia recommendation, I’ve been loving reading Sirens & Muses. It follows four artists at an elite East Coast art school, three students and one teacher, as their lives intertwine and they each explore what art truly means to them. It’s the perfect read for this time of year.

Michaela Pecoraro on TikTok
One of my new favourite creator discoveries this year. Michaela has impeccable taste and such a thoughtful way of talking about style, her latest finds, and, of course, her The Real Real hauls. Her aesthetic feels like a perfect mix of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and the Olsen twins.

Love, S.
