Note 40 - Last Montreal Note For a While…
One of the last sunsets on the roof
Happy Sunday!
The countdown is officially on! Tomorrow I’m flying to Germany for two weeks of holiday before the next chapter begins. Join me for my final week in Montreal as I share the last of my outfits, navigate the final stages of our move, and share some of my favourites along the way.
I’ll be taking a little break next weekend, but I’ll be back in July with updates from Europe and more. See you then!
What I Wore This Week (during moving week)
Cardigan - Reformation / Tank top - Doên / Skirt - Doên
Blazer - Dagmar / Dress - WAYF x Hannah Lovey / Bag - Totême
Here are a few of the outfits I wore during my last week in Montreal. As I mentioned in last week’s post, I’m living out of a suitcase for the next few weeks, so I’ve been challenging myself to rewear pieces in different ways and make them feel fresh and interesting.
Look 1 is an outfit I wore at home while packing: an oversized shirt paired with lace-trim shorts peeking out underneath. It’s the perfect combination for a warm day spent sorting through boxes and getting organized.
Look 2 is what I wore for my last dinner in Old Montreal, where I met my childhood friend Mathilde. I love styling this Doên skirt with a tank top in the same shade so that it reads almost like a dress. I finished the look with my butter-yellow cardigan, which added a soft layer for the evening.
Look 3 is what I wore for drinks in the city later in the week. The weather couldn’t quite make up its mind (a mix of sunshine, cool shade, and rain showers), so my blazer ended up being the perfect layering piece.
Everyday Delights
Moving day
Olive oil cake & gelato at Mucca
Rainbow on a pink sky!
Another week filled with highlights, but if I had to choose just three, they would be:
Moving day! After months of behind-the-scenes planning for our overseas move, from the shipping container and visas to finding an apartment and securing a job, it finally started to feel real. Watching the apartment empty out was such a surreal moment, and for the first time, my stress levels actually dropped. We decided to bring our furniture with us so that our next place feels like home from day one, and I’m so happy we made that choice because I’m a homebody at heart!
The olive oil cake with olive oil gelato at Mucca was another highlight. I’m not usually a dessert person, but I love simple flavours, and this combination was absolutely delicious and not too sweet. Mucca is my favourite spot for date nights in Montreal; the food and the playlist never disappoint.
Finally, on Wednesday evening, we were treated to the most beautiful full rainbow. It stretched across the sky for hours, and against the pink sunset backdrop, it was absolutely magical. I love this photo of it.
This Week’s Edit
Our Perfect Storm, Carly Fortune
The perfect summer read if you’re looking for something light and immersive. Set in Canada, it features one of my favourite romance tropes: the friends-to-lovers. Carly Fortune’s books are always such a treat to read!
I’ve been using my gua sha more regularly over the past few months, and I’ve really been enjoying it as part of my nighttime routine. The massage helps release tension in my jaw and leaves my face looking less puffy and more refreshed.
Is There a ‘Skinny Apocalypse’ in Hollywood? on Diabolical Lies
I really enjoyed this episode of the cultural commentary podcast Diabolical Lies, which takes a deep dive into the rise of thinness in Hollywood, what it signals about society in 2026, and more. It’s a long-form, thoughtful discussion, and one of the co-hosts is the author of Yesteryear, so if you enjoyed that book, I’d highly recommend this episode as well.
Georg Jensen Bernadette Kettle
For my move, I couldn’t bring any electrical appliances, so I needed to find a new kettle for France. I’ve really been loving the design of this Georg Jensen one. It’s actually an early birthday gift from my parents. I love its sleek, minimalist look and the fact that it uses minimal plastic. It’s also currently on sale here.
